Grainville Tennis Academy Tournament Trip to Bedford Oct. 2009
The Grainville Junior Academy headed up by Joe Keany travelled to Bedfordshire to enter the “On The Line Sports Riverside Junior Open” grade 3 event during the October half term 2009.
We left Jersey with a strong team of players to enter in 2 age group singles events, followed by the doubles event. “The team did very well, with some outstanding individual performances, they all competed hard each day away from home and did both the team and themselves proud.
Aidan Varela, our youngest Academy player to travel with us did incredibly well. In the 9 and under event he won his group stage to go through the knockout stage, Aidan won 2 matches to finish overall runner up. Aidan then went on to win his group in the 10 and under event, losing out in the semi – final.
Octavia Lamb also had a very good tournament, knocking out 2 seeded players in the 18u girls singles event to reach the SF. Octavia then played the no 1 seed Amy Partridge, This was a great match with many spectators, Octavia fought hard, but Amy was just too strong. Amy then went on to have an easy win in the final.
